Do’s and Don’ts of Web Design

Updated: Mar 2, 2022

If you are a business owner in 2022, then you know having a high-quality web design is a MUST. In order to effectively connect with your audience having a well-designed website is key. Understanding and implementing the “do’s and don’ts” in web design will help you:

  • Better position you for success.

  • Stay ahead of the competitive curve.

  • Improve conversion rates.

  • Produce financially rewarding results.

It’s simple if your website is not efficient, it’s not gonna work. You need to make sure that your website is making an impact once a user visits your site.

Below is some of my best “do’s and don’ts” advice on how to design a website that gets results. A site that looks beautiful, converts visitors and gets more value from every one of those hard-earned visits.

DO: Invest in a high-quality web design. DON’T: Try to DIY if you have no knowledge of web design. You could be doing more harm than good here.

DO: Keep the navigation menu simple. DON’T: Crowd your site with too many links. You will end up confusing people with too many links.

DO: Use high-quality content. (images + text) DON’T: Overload the site with too much info.

DO: Follow your branding guidelines. DON’T: Use colors that don’t match your brand. It looks weird, believe me!

DO: Break up text into easy-to-read sections and make sure your chosen font is also easy to read. DON’T: Use more than 3 different fonts.

DO: Optimize your website for mobile traffic. DON’T: Only focus on design. Make sure you also add relevant and powerful content that drives users to take action.

DO: Make the design easy on the eyes. Keep it looking consistent. DON’T: Try to hard-sell users. Your content will do the job for you if what you put out there is good.

Now that you know what should and shouldn’t be on your site it’s a good time to look over your website and see if you need to make any changes.
